Silverstone Tactical Training Centre

Background

The concept behind the design and development of Silverstone Tactical Training Centre was the recognition that police and security services are running out of places and ranges where they can train and lacking the land and or the budget to build their own ranges an independent operation would be of use to fill that operational need.

John Thorne, owner of Thorney Ltd has been designing and building shooting ranges for over 10 years. Working extensively in the USA John has worked with a variety of law enforcement agencies in the design and development of tactical range design to create more dynamic and relevant training venues. 

In the UK, Silverstone Shooting Centre (the outdoor Home Office approved club for the general public) was the first new build range in the UK for over 50 years and has been in operation for over 6 years operating as both a private members club but also a commercial shooting range for the general public.

There are very few operations in the World that have direct experience in the design, construction and management of shooting ranges and related training facilities and its an area where real experience matters.

John is a Registered Firearms Dealer, a fire arm and shot gun certificate holder born in the UK with full UK citizenship, Thorney Ltd is a registered UK company with over 20 years good standing.

We are able offer a full design and build solution to any operational needs you may need to include full planning, construction and management for live fire or wider operational training operational venues.

This includes the design of live and simulation suitable targetry including reactive mannequin targets and ballistic steel mobile backstops suitable for up to .308 jacketed ammunition.
